Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain boot firmware and early system initialization code under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Port, build, and debug Arm Trusted Firmware (TF-A / TF-M) and bootloaders on our SoC platforms
  • Develop power management firmware, including DVFS, clock/power domain control, and low-power state transitions (e.g., PSCI, SCMI)
  • Support SoC bring-up and silicon validation with hardware teams, on FPGA prototypes and real silicon
  • Write and maintain low-level drivers, test code, and technical documentation
  • Investigate and debug issues across firmware, Linux kernel, and hardware boundaries

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or higher in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Solid programming skills in C, plus shell script, Python, or Go
  • Basic understanding of Rust, or a strong willingness to learn it
  • Understanding of computer architecture fundamentals: CPU pipeline, memory hierarchy, cache, virtual memory/MMU, interrupts
  • Basic understanding of the Linux kernel and device drivers (e.g., kernel modules, character drivers, interrupt handling, device tree)
  • Familiarity with operating system concepts and the Linux development environment (gcc/clang, make, git, shell)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to dig into low-level details

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or project experience in embedded systems, bare-metal programming, or OS kernels (e.g., MCU, Raspberry Pi, RTOS)
  • Exposure to the Arm architecture (ARMv8-A/M) and exception levels
  • Understanding of power management concepts such as DVFS, clock gating, power gating, and voltage regulators (PMIC)
  • Familiarity with Linux power management frameworks (cpufreq, devfreq, cpuidle, runtime PM) or SCP/MCP firmware
  • Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG/SWD, GDB, Lauterbach, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers
  • Familiarity with bootloaders (U-Boot, TF-A) or the boot process
  • Experience with FPGA, or with reading hardware datasheets and register specs
  • Open-source contributions, or personal projects you can share on GitHub

About FuriosaAI

FuriosaAI builds high-performance, high-efficiency AI compute for the Inference Era. Founded in 2017 by veteran semiconductor and AI algorithm engineers, Furiosa operates globally with offices in Korea and Silicon Valley, along with a compiler-focused R&D lab in Lisbon.

Our vision is to make AI computing sustainable, enabling access to powerful AI for everyone on Earth. We solve the AI hardware energy and operational cost crisis at the architectural level, rather than through brute force, building the world's first truly AI-native compute platform to unlock the full potential of artificial intelligence for every enterprise.

About the Role

FuriosaAI’s System Software team is hiring an Embedded Linux Engineer to work on the low-level software that brings our AI accelerator SoCs to life. The role covers the firmware that runs from the moment a chip powers on until the operating system takes over, including boot firmware, early system initialization, and power management such as DVFS. You’ll take part in SoC bring-up on FPGA prototypes and first silicon, debug issues across firmware, the Linux kernel, and hardware, and help get the best performance and power efficiency out of our chips. This role suits new graduates and engineers with up to 2 years of experience who want to apply what they learned about computer architecture and operating systems to real silicon. Prior industry experience isn’t required, but curiosity about how hardware and software meet at the lowest level is.

What You'll Grow Into

  • Hands-on, end-to-end experience bringing up a new AI accelerator SoC, from FPGA to first silicon
  • In-depth expertise in Arm system architecture and SoC power/performance management

Why Join FuriosaAI
